Trevor House is a stunning Georgian house of historic interest situated in a prime location right in the heart of Lewes.
The present listed house dates back to 1820 although records show a house on the plot previously dating back to medieval times.
The house’s commanding classic facade, set back from the High Street, contrasts to the crafted flint faced exterior which overlooks a large and beautiful garden on the other side of the property.
Trevor House is ideally situated close to Lewes 1000 year old Norman castle, and is a short walk from enchanting local shops and restaurants.
Ancient Lewes is an artistic, vibrant town on the banks of the River Ouse and is surrounded by some really spectacular countryside. Significantly, the Greenwich Meridian runs through the west of town. Lewes has a rich history and boasts a medieval castle, the remains of St Pancras Priory, the first Cluniac house in England and the lovely Anne of Cleves House, a gift from Henry VIII to his wife, following their divorce.
The town has been a busy port for many centuries. It has a rich history with a good number of listed buildings, among them Trevor House.
Lewes has a rich cultural life and embraces its colourful past while also investing in its present successes. On November 5th it celebrates the UK’s largest Guy Fawkes Night, an extraordinary pageant and spectacle that embraces the entire town.
Not only are we a comfortable train ride to the heart of London, but we are situated in the heart of East Sussex, amidst the famous South Downs. The fashionable south coast city of Brighton and Newhaven port are each only seven miles away.
The local countryside is full of quaint villages and excellent country pubs. The countryside and coast are very popular with wonderful walks and sightseeing from the SevenSisters coastline to the 100 mile South Downs Way.
Our local train station has a direct route to London Victoria. We are also ideally located for Gatwick International Airport.
The world -renowned opera house of Glyndebourne is on our doorstep, while recently Mumford and Sons selected Lewes for their only British venue for their Gentlemen of the Road tour.
